Our Mission

The purpose of The Village Music School Foundation, Inc are manifold. We seek to foster a deeper understanding of music in all its incarnations, jazz, folk, rock, and classical, through various avenues and projects.  It is our belief that participation in music, particularly learning an instrument, is the best vehicle for achieving that understanding.  This Foundation is the nonprofit sister of The Village Music School, which also does business as Musical Associates.

First, the Foundation allows families who cannot afford the lessons that are provided through The Village Music School an opportunity to participate at a lower dollar figure.

The second area of operation is in providing a variety of services to charter schools and public schools which require a 501(c)(3) in place. Through the Foundation, The Village Music School staff are able to provide early childhood music education and after school music education in districts that currently have that nonprofit requirement. The Village Music School does not realize a profit as a result of these partnerships.

In addition, The Village Music School Foundation provides support in development of suitable projects that also foster a love of music, such as North River Sing and The Boston  Guitar Fest.
